We are just beginning to tell you our story through social media. This blog is one example, as well as our Facebook page. Some of you have already joined us with your Facebook “likes” or by subscribing to our blog. Others of you may be visiting occasionally, reading our blog and posts, and waiting to see what happens. A number of you are getting our email newsletter and enjoying watching us take the plunge.
Wherever you are standing as we move into this new world, we hope you will come with us. We know we won’t be perfect every time. That’s why we rely on your comments and feedback. But we sure are working hard to tell our story. We know families are struggling every day to build their lives and create positive and loving places for their children and teens. We want you to know we are here for you.
It’s also true that there is a lot of stuff out there about parenting and parenting teens in particular. There are over 156 million public blogs on the Internet as of February of 2011. When searching for blog posts or comments on parenting we got 95,000 links to posts or messages (we got 150,000 when we searched for teens). That’s a lot of noise.
So one of the things we are bringing to you, our Internet family, is information about what’s out there. We work hard reviewing blogs and other resources for you. We know you don’t have the time to review all 150,000 of those blogs we talked about. Well, we don’t either, but at least we can make a stab at some of the good ones.
So we are adding a page to our blog that we call “Check it Out.” The link will be in the left sidebar, under the Facebook like box. It’s a link to a page where we will put blogs we have found that you might enjoy, articles that you might like and helpful tips about topics you request. We home you will come back and check it out!
