Hero of Hope – Day four

Hero Activity Four

LEARN. This is a day to be a hero by doing something for yourself. Most of us don’t have a clue what children deal with in today’s society. We know about our own kids or our own family, but even that is censored by our children and we only get a part of the story – as much as they think we can handle.

It is important for all of us adults to understand childhood trauma and how prevalent it is. For instance, did you know that more than 25% of American youth experience a traumatic event before the age of 16? They do.

Here are some places you can go to learn more.

Native American Center for Excellence – Historical Trauma

The National Child Trauma Stress Network

Empower News Mag – PTSD and African American Children.

Take your pick. Just get educated, you hero you.
